05/12/2008 - Port talbot town caretaker bosses still in charge
Wayne Davies and his son Nick take charge of Port Talbot in a caretaker role for the second time tonight for the home encounter with Haverfordwest. It was expected that chairman Andrew Edwards would be making a new managerial appointment this week but Davies confirmed he will be at the helm against the Bluebirds.
"I'm not sure when the appointment will be made but I know the chairman is interviewing several of the candidates this week," Davies said.
"But it won't be long before a new manager is in place."
Haverfordwest arrive at the GenQuip Stadium with six former Steelmen in their ranks.
Craig Hanford and Dylan Blain moved west in the summer, while Dyfan Pierce, Gareth Elliott, Luke Bowen and Mark Evans also made the same journey.
"I know them all. They were my players when I was previously in charge and it will make for an interesting evening," Davies added.
"I don't have a great record against Haverfordwest. I remember the last time we played them at home we lost 4-1 after going into the match on the back of a draw against Llanelli and wins over TNS, Rhyl and Swansea City.
"They are a good side, but if we get the rub of the green I'm hopeful we can secure a result."
James Burgin misses the clash through injury but Gareth Phillips successfully came through a training session earlier this week and will come back into the reckoning.
