04/12/2008 - Something needed in reserve

A Key factor in the fortunes of both Swansea City and Cardiff City this season will be squad strength.Numerically, I think both teams have that aspect, but reserve football is a major disadvantage for them.

No disrespect, but seeing Swansea's reserve team taking on the likes of Bournemouth is not the best platform for some of the club's fringe players.

How can they go from the standard of playing reserve football against Bournemouth and then into a top Championship game against Wolves, Birmingham or Reading.

Swansea and Cardiff need to be playing in a Championship reserve league - split into north and south - where they will even face players with Premier League and international experience.

That would ensure the fringe players are playing a good standard every reserve game.
